Cloud CTF Tutorials - Enabling Team Play Transcript

Overview

Hello everyone! Welcome to another video in our series on the Cloud CTF tutorials and today we're going to cover how to enable team play. So by enabling team play, that's going to allow students to arrange themselves into teams, that way you don't have to manually arrange all of your players. So let me go ahead and show you how to do that.

Enabling Team Play

First we're going to jump into our Cloud CTF environment and we're going to navigate to the admins tab. Within the admins tab, the setting we're looking for is going to be "Allow players to change team." So when we enable that our students are now going to be able to join a team instead of having to click solo play when they first create an account.

Demonstrating Team Play

We're going to go ahead and set up another test user and we'll be right back and show you how that looks. Alright, now that we've made another test player, we've named that second test player "Player 2", we can go ahead and join a team that already exists. As you can see it doesn't just say play solo it also mentions join and create a team. So we're going to go ahead and join a team and we're going to select "team test player", that was the first team we created. We'll go ahead and join that. And what this will do is it will send out a (request) to Test Player and Test Player will have the ability to accept player 2 onto their team. Let's show you how that works.

So from Test Player's perspective, we can go ahead and navigate to My Team and we see now there's pending members and that's player two. And in order to accept that invite, we can just click on edit and this little thumbs up button is going to accept the invitation so we can approve Player 2 to join the team. Click on approve, and done. So now anytime Test Player and Player 2, every time they solve a challenge those scores are going to be added together on their scoreboard. Alright, and that should be all for enabling team play in Cloud CTF. If you did want to manually manage your teams go ahead and check out our other tutorial it will be on team management so that will show you how to create delete and modify teams.
