Getting Started in CloudCTF¶
This KB article will cover how to setup a CTF environment and start a competition in CloudCTF. This article is intended for CTF Admins (Cyber Range Instructors). If you do not yet have an account with the Virginia Cyber Range, please see our guide on Getting an Instructor Account.
Checklist Before Getting Started with CloudCTF¶
Please make sure you have an account with the Virginia Cyber Range. If you do not yet have an account, please see our guide on Getting an Instructor Account.
If you already have an account, please make sure you can successfully login to the Exercise Area of the Virginia Cyber Range. Please see How to Login to the Exercise Area for more information.

How to Setup a Private or Public CloudCTF Environment¶
CloudCTF allows for both private and public CTF competitions by providing a public registration feature in the admin settings of a CloudCTF environment.

How to Add Challenges to a CTF Competition¶
CTF Admins can create fully functional CTF competitions within a few short minutes by using the CloudCTF challenge library feature. This feature provides Admins with a diverse selection of pre-made challenges that can easily be imported into a competition. For a quick guide on importing challenges from the challenge library, please see the article, Adding and Removing Challenges.

How to Set Start and End Times for a CTF Competition¶
Once you have created a CloudCTF environment and have successfully added challenges, please remember to set a start and end time for the competition. Please see Setting CloudCTF Start and End Times for a detailed look into controlling the lifespan of a competition.
