Instructor Account Request

Note for Students

This method is only applicable to instructors. Students must be invited by their instructor in order to use the Cyber Range. Please see the article titled Inviting Users to Your Course for information on getting students signed into the Cyber Range. Instructions for students joining the Cyber Range can be found in the article titled How to Join a Course.

  1. To request an account with the Virginia Cyber Range, simply navigate to the Virginia Cyber Range homepage and click on "Sign Up". The Sign Up button is at the top-right of the homepage next to the Login button.

  2. You will then see a page that displays an instructor and student signup form. If you are an instructor and you teach a cybersecurity class at a public school, college, or university in Virginia, then you can click "YES" as highlighted in the image below.

Answer "YES" to the question: "Do you teach a cybersecurity class in a public school, college, or university in Virginia?"

  3. You will then need to fill out the form presented in the image below, which requires that you provide your first and last name, an institutional email address, your job title, and the school you are currently employed/teaching at.

Additionally, you can opt in to the monthly newsletter. A captcha challenge is required to proceed.

  4. After filling out the form and clicking the confirm button, you will see a thank you message as seen in the image below. Your application will be sent to the organization administrators for review and you will be notified with either an email that contains an invitation link to create your account in the Cyber Range, or a rejection email explaining why you do not qualify for access.

While waiting for account approval, you can browse the courseware repository for available content.

  5. After you have successfully completed the steps above and your account has been approved by an administrator, please see the article titled Getting an Instructor Account and Creating Your First Course for more information.
