Team Management - Admin

This KB article will cover Team Management for CloudCTF Admins. If you have not yet created a CloudCTF environment, please see Creating a CloudCTF Environment and Launching a CloudCTF Environment. If you are not an admin in CloudCTF, please refer to the Team Management article for CloudCTF players.

Allowing Players to Play Solo, Join a Team, or Create a Team

CloudCTF allows for Players to participate in a competition by either playing solo or in a team. CTF admins can enable/disable the Team feature from within the Admin settings of their CloudCTF environment. CTF Admins should keep in mind that Players will only be provided with the "Play Solo" option if team play has not been enabled. Enabling Teams in CloudCTF

1. To enable teams in CloudCTF, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select SETTINGS. Next, please check the "Allow Players to change teams" option, as shown in the image below. Once you have checked this option, please click on Confirm to save the settings.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Settings tab is located under the header named Admins, as the leftmost option. The Allow Players to change teams option is located under the date and time section, in the middle of the screen. Finally, the Confirm button is located at the bottom of the screen, just under the theme section.

2. Players will then be able to choose from a few options when joining a CTF competition. These include:

  • Play Solo
  • Join a Team
  • Create a Team

The three options are located under the header named Player Options, in the middle of the screen.

Enforcing Solo Play in CloudCTF

1. To enforce solo play in CloudCTF, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select SETTINGS. Next, please make sure that "Allow Players to change teams" has been unchecked, as shown in the image below. Once you have unchecked this option, please click on Confirm to save the settings.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Settings tab is located under the header named Admins, as the leftmost option. The Allow Players to change teams option is located under the date and time section, in the middle of the screen. Finally, the Confirm button is located at the bottom of the screen, just under the theme section.

2. Once you have successfully updated the settings, Players will only be presented with the Play Solo option when joining a CTF competition.

The only option, Play Solo, can be found under the Player Options header.

Allow/Disallow Players to Change Team Name

1. To allow or disallow Players to change their team name, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select SETTINGS. Next, please either check or uncheck the "Allow players to change their team names" option. Once you have adjusted this setting, please click on Confirm to save the settings.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Settings tab is located under the header named Admins, as the leftmost option. The Allow Players to change their team names option is located under the date and time section, in the middle of the screen. Finally, the Confirm button is located at the bottom of the screen, just under the theme section.


How to Add a Team

1. To add a team to a CloudCTF competition, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the plus icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five.

2. Next, you will be presented with a popup window that allows you to enter the new team name. Please input a team name and click Confirm.

The New Team Name field is located under the Team Field header. The Confirm Button is located at the bottom right of the pop-up window.

3. Once you have successfully added a new team, you will be able to view, edit, or delete it in the list of teams below.

The added team can be found under the header named Teams.


How to Delete a Team

1. To delete a team from a competition, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the gear icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five. The Gear Icon can be located to the left of the Team column.

2. Once you have clicked on the gear icon, please select DELETE from the popup window.

The Delete option is shown in popup window, as one of three options.

3. Next, you will be presented with a message confirming that you would like to delete the team. If you are certain that you would like to completely remove the team from the competition, please click on DELETE again, as shown in the example below.

The Delete option is located at the bottom right of the window.


How to Bulk Delete Teams

1. In order to bulk delete team from the CTF competition, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the checkbox within the header row of the teams table, as shown in the image below.

The bulk delete checkbox can be found to the left of the Team and Gear Icon columns, at the top.

2. Once you have selected this checkbox, you should see all checkboxes are now marked. You should now have a trash can icon appear in the top left of the teams table. Please click on the trash can icon to bulk delete all of your teams.

The Trash Can Icon is located just above the bulk delete checkbox.

3. Next, you will be presented with a popup confirmation window. Please keep in mind this is a permanent deletion! If you are sure you want to delete all of your teams, you can mark the checkbox and click Confirm as shown below.

The checkbox can be found to the left of the confirmation statement. The confirm to delete option is located at the bottom right of the window.


How to View Team Scores

1. To view team specific scores, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the gear icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five. The Gear Icon can be located to the left of the Team column.

2. Once you have clicked on the gear icon, please select VIEW SCORES.

The View Scores option is located in the popup window, as one of three options, as the first option.

3. You will then be able to view which challenges have been solved by the team, the date and time of the challenge solve, and the team member who solved the challenge.

How to Solve a Challenge for a Team

1. To view team specific scores, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the gear icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five. The Gear Icon can be located to the left of the Team column.

2. Once you have clicked on the gear icon, please select VIEW SCORES.

The View Scores option is located in the popup window, as one of three options, as the first option.

3. From here, you will need to click on the plus symbol in the top-right of the Team Score page.

The plus icon is located in the top right of the window.

4. At the "Add a Submission" screen, you can use the drop-down box to select which challenge you want to set as solved for the team that you selected. Once you have selected your desired challenge, please click Confirm.

The Drop down box can be accessed at the right side of the screen, at the arrow icon. The Confirm button is located at the bottom right of the screen.


How to Unsolve a Challenge for a Team

1. To view team specific scores, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the gear icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five. The Gear Icon can be located to the left of the Team column.

2. Once you have clicked on the gear icon, please select VIEW SCORES.

The View Scores option is located in the popup window, as one of three options, as the first option.

3. From here, you will need to click on the gear icon corresponding to the challenge that you want to unsolve, then select "Unsolve" as shown below.

The Gear Icon is located at the bottom left of the screen. The Unsolve option will appear in a dropdown list. Clicking on this option will cause a pop-up window to appear.

4. After selecting "Unsolve" you should be greeted with a confirmation screen. If you are sure you want to unsolve the challenge, you can mark the checkbox and click Confirm.

The Confirm button is located at the bottom right of this pop-up window.


How to Edit a Team

1. To edit a team in CloudCTF, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the gear icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five. The Gear Icon can be located to the left of the Team column.

2. Once you have clicked on the gear icon, please select EDIT.

The Edit option is located in the popup window, as one of three options, as the second option.

3. You will then be presented with a popup window that allows you to edit the team name, hide the team from the scoreboard, and remove members from the team.

Note: Please keep in mind that a team will be deleted if the last member of a team is removed by the CTF Admin.

The name field is under the header named Name, and just above the Hide from the Scoreboard checkbox. The Members section is located under the Hide from the Scoreboard Checkbox.


How to Hide a Team from the Scoreboard

1. In order to hide a specific team from the global scoreboard, please make sure to navigate to the ADMINS page and select TEAMS. Next, please click on the gear icon, as shown in the image below.

The Admins Page can be found at the top of the screen, as the rightmost option. The Teams tab can be found under the Admins Header, as the third option of five. The Gear Icon can be located to the left of the Team column.

2. Once you have clicked on the gear icon, please select EDIT.

The Edit option is located in the popup window, as one of three options, as the second option.

3. Next, you will be presented with a popup window that allows you to check the "Hide from the scoreboard" option. Checking this option will hide the team from the scoreboard.

The Hide from the Scoreboard Checkbox is located under the name field.
